Vildagliptin is an oral diabetes medication used to treat type 2 diabetes. It belongs to a class of drugs called DPP-4 inhibitors (dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors) and helps to regulate blood sugar levels.

How should I take Vildagliptin?
Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Use the medicine exactly as directed.
Take Vildagliptin once or twice a day. It is usually taken once a day, in the morning. If you have been told to take 2 doses each day, take your first dose in the morning and the second dose in the evening. Take your medicine at about the same time each day.
You may take this medication before food or after food.
To control your diabetes, you must keep taking Galvus every day. Do not stop taking this medication suddenly, speak to your doctor or nurse before stopping.

Dosage Forms & Strengths
Vildagliptin 50 mg Tablet
Adult dose
A daily dose higher than 100 mg in two divided doses is not recommended.
Monotherapy
The recommended dose is 100 mg daily, administered as one dose of 50 mg in the morning and one dose of 50 mg in the evening.
Dual oral therapy with metformin or a thiazolidinedione
The recommended dose is 100 mg daily, administered as one dose of 50 mg in the morning and one dose of 50mg in the evening.
Dual oral therapy in combination with sulfonylurea
The recommended dose is 50 mg daily administered in the morning.
When used in combination with sulfonylurea, a 100 mg daily dose has been shown to be no more effective than a 50 mg daily dose.
Triple oral therapy in combination with a sulfonylurea and metformin
The recommended dose is 100 mg daily, administered as one dose of 50 mg in the morning and one dose of 50 mg in the evening.
Pediatric Dose
Not recommended for use in children under 18 years due to insufficient data on safety and efficacy.
